Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California in 2011-2017 and she was a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris began her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010 she was elected Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling the possibility of citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings earned the attention of the nation, which included the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
